Life resumes

This morning B told me she is leaving the company. I'm not surprised because she does not belong to the working class; she's born with a silver spoon and her family is well connected, so filthy rich is the right description for her. Anyway, shortly after she went around the office announcing her pending departure (but she has not submitted the letter to boss yet) she came up with the following suggestions - one leads to another...

1) maybe the company can revise her contract to work once a month... and
2) maybe, and if need be, she can render some help for 2 major events next year... and
3) maybe let her keep her email account

C'mon, if you have made your mind to leave, just go, dun create unnecessary work/issues for us. I have no doubt we can manage without her, which is as easy as lifting a finger to flip a page, and I kid you not. But YL and me thinks the bosses are RELUCTANT to see her go for obvious reasons. IMO, she is expensive to keep and of little value add where work is concerned. All along I've had low tolerance for slackers but this time I have to make an exception. Life sucks!

Btw, she is a nice person but that alone is not enough, if you know what I mean.

I've told myself I will shoot whichever candidate who emails across their resumes in PDF version. I had to re-type a few today and they sure write a lot... pain in the butt! Suggested to IT to pluuuuuur-ease buy the conversion software and was told it's pending for approval. It's under $200 for goodness sake, if it doesn't go thru I will pay for it myself.

Yay!!! Exam's over for now and I can finally relax until June when the results are out. But for now, I'm just going to have fun catchking up with friends, family and loved ones and not not worry a thing. Papers been submitted, and since I can't undo any of it I will wait and see what's next.

Had a another pleasant surprise today when I was collecting my individual HR assignment report. My heart skipped a beat when the staff at the counter told me the OT report is ready for collection. Yes! We scored another distinction. We have been lucky so far and I hope this is not the end. Keep 'em coming.

I do get occassional singing entertainments onboard the train and it happened again today. On my way back from school there was this lady who dun look a bit 'off' was singing to herself, but rather softly. She was full of expression and was at one point moving her body to the rythm of the song, until she saw that I was looking at her.... she stopped and looked back at me. I was quite worried what if she walked over and hit me or do something nasty, then what should I do? Thankfully she flashed me a grin and got off at the next station. Phew... Lesson learnt - dun look, just steal glances.

Ed is Father again, for the 3rd time, to a baby boy. Congrats! I think he decided on the name Sean the last time we met but dunno if that has changed. Have not visited Sook Peng and baby yet but I'm sure it won't be long. This couple really know how to strike when the iron is hot ; )

Hubby bought a new lens for his camera and has been clicking away, be it food on the table, me hard at work, or Vicki in her sleepy mode. It's only a simple lens and it has got him all excited. I wonder what happens when I finally get hold of his dream lens??? He might consider sleeping with his camera?? Carol is joining the DSLR club soon and I'm sure Steve is well on his way. The Wong siblings and their passion for photography. To be continued.

Final Countdown

Taking a short breather from the last leg of my exam prep so here I am. After 12 weeks of lectures, countless group discussions and late nites, I was in euphoria when I received the grading for our Leadership Management assignment - we got distinction! Emily said we are 0/5 marks shy of high distinction but I'm contented, seriously. We had to select a contemporary leader (alive & kicking) and a historical leader (dead for at least a decade) and conduct a literature review on their LM skill and then analyze and recommend the most effective of the two leaders. So, between Sir Richard Branson and Henry Heinz, we voted for the former. I wonder if the result would have differed if we had picked Heinz instead? Anyway, I gotta thank Hubby for his feedback as I had at one point gone off track and wasn't thinking rationally. So, this is the highlight of my week among other things.

Audrey held her mini housewarming for us last Fri. She bought a unit at The Waterina and it was much better than I thought. Despite the not so glamourous address (it's in Geylang Lor 40) the area is nicely done up with lots of water features, hence the name Waterina, and lots of space for kids and family events. Audrey's apartment has a nice layout and the interior decor was simple yet elegant. The evening was filled with food, drinks, laughter and great company. We've decided the next round will be BBQ at Lynn's place before she vacate in June, followed by Angie's when she settles in her new place after the school holiday.
